The Alpha Centauri star system is ideal to search for habitable planets by various observing techniques due to its proximity and wide range of stellar masses. However, studies conducted in 2017 have shown that this star is also somewhat gravitationally bound to the others. The closest star system to the Earth is the famous Alpha Centauri group.
